Leading Analyst Firm selects prudsys as a "Cool Vendor 2009"

By: Sandra Kögel

prudsys announces that the leading IT market research institute Gartner has recognised prudsys as a "Cool Vendor" in its report "Cool Vendors in BI and Performance Management 2009". *

According to the Gartner report "the demand from business users for information processing is growing faster than IT resources can address, especially with traditional BI platforms."

prudsys believes that the annually published "Cool Vendor Report" series is known for its independent assessments and for discovering unusual and innovative companies.

"We are honoured to be included in Gartner's Cool Vendor report" explains Dr. Michael Thess, head of research and development and a prudsys AG director. "I believe this shows that we have responded to our customers."

The prudsys AG recommendation engine is the most frequently used recommendation system used by retailers in German-speaking countries As a result of its analysis procedure which is self-learning, works in real-time and is partially patented, the Chemnitz - based company has also established itself as a technology leader for real-time data mining.

The dynamically operating recommendation engine by prudsys also launches a new generation of recommendation engines whose functions go far beyond the range offered by traditional recommendation engines as the engine changes from simply making recommendations to become a multichannel-enabled customer interaction server.

This means it is possible to generate individual product and content recommendations that meet the needs of each customer across all customer channels using real-time analyses and, in addition, to optimise internal and scheduling processes.
Customised landing pages, ad banner placement, product recommendations in electronic newsletters, real-time scoring (e.g. fraud detection and preventing shopping basket cancellation), individual recommendations in the check-out process, dynamic price changes and the automatic availability of goods are just some of the new business scenarios that can be implemented in future with this new type of recommendation engines.

About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose. Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
